Rehabilitation / Renovation by Deputy Commissioner Jhelum
The time has left its mark on the building of library and consequently it is in very poor condition. Five years back, roof repair was carried out by providing heavy slab but roof slab is not supported on a framed structure hence the walls of the library are carrying the entire load of roof slab. The walls of the library are not strong enough to support weight of the slab rendering it unsafe. The building ventilation system has been rendered dysfunctional and the floors also need heavy repair and maintenance. Illegal encroachments have been done by various elements around the library building. Fortunately, resources for complete restoration and rehabilitation of the library has been made available by the Government of the Punjab with persistent efforts of incumbent Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mr Iqbal Hussain. The restoration work is expected to start inn the first week of Sep 2017.
